Serious Self Portaits

As if my first set of portrait pictures weren't bad enough. Now we have to self-portraits. Scary. Well it seems as if most pictures I take of my self are of me looking like a goof ball. Honestly, perfect description of the last shoot. These pictures are suppose to be 'personality' portraits that tell a story. And yes, myself, my friends, and even my family love to have fun, dress up, and not be serious. Good hearted random fun. But there is also another side to me, a  more serious side that doesn't seem to like to take pictures-at least of me. So, I went out and I found a few of these. I love this shoot. I look very happy and warmhearted is some, and other in deep thought and serious.

This is my favorite.
I love how it's so dramatic
Thanks to black and white
ofcourse.
But I look like I'm deep in thought
with a side ways smile.

I like look slighty off in
space in this photo,
Gazing.
Once again with the partial smile.

This probley isn't a true portait picture.
But I think it looks cool enough
to make the list of worth while photos
for this blog.
Although the partial me in the background
looks really angry and scary.

Here's the only pictrure of me in the set
that is smiling. Kinda an awkard smile
That's why I don't have a really beautiful smile
in pictures, just kinda a half crossed look.
By the way, that's a real sun glare in the
backgound too. It was bright a sunny day.
Love sunglares, make any picture look amazing. (or fake)

I half like this photo, half hate it.
I had to edit it alot to make it look
semi descent.
I look like such a brat.
So I thought it would be better in black and
white to try to give it a more 'un-stuborn'
look, but for some reason I truned black
insrtead. Okay. So I had to up contrast,
and now I look like a drawing, a bratty drawing.
I guess this is a rsiky photo, so I hope you like it.

And this concludes, my photos of myself
I feel like such a camera hog. Haha,

Silly Portraits

Well, the school year is almost done and with 2 days of school left, I think we can all easily say that homework and thinking is hard to do. But now in photography class we are taking the grand fanily  pictures, portraits! Yep.... with portraits you can really make them look good, like CosmoGirl Cover good, or really bad. You can destroy their life. Yep, the power of portrait in my hands.
My original intent was to a serious portrait edited to black and white. My sister is home from collagede and one of her friends is also over. They like to dress up, and with the demand and power the word 'homework' has behind it, it wasn't very hard to convince them. But all seriousness falls when Jenni (my sis) pulls out the weird things in her closet for my mannequin (Hannha - college freind) to wear. Eventually she got dressed up in the most bizzare clothes. Well, at least now I have the most funniest pictures.  And Some amazing memories.

Here's my kitten Katy, wanting to help. She was bitting and pawing at the umbrella. Later on in some pitcures it looks like Hannha (the girl with the umbrella) was stabbing the poor baby kitten. Haha
Already I can say that this is my funniest assignment, and that dosn't come easy with all the other amazing photoshoots that I had to do. :)

One day I'll paint a picture of this. Perfect. Pure perfection. The creepy umbrella man/women and the snob painter.

The floppy hat, that's my hat. Oh and don't feel bad for Socks-the other kitten. She's just being cute and playing with my paintbrust while their looking creepy around her.

Hannha the scary umbrella lady. That's why my sis looks so terrified.

Just chillin' Nothing ' un normal' about this.

I'm not sure what to think.

Hannha: Have you scene what's up with her lately? I'm not sure, but somethings not right. Not right at all.

I suppose it wouldn't be fair if I didn't include myself in it. Yes I dressed up aswell. As a scary lab coat scientist. Here's a group photo. I think my guts are being squeezed out and my sis looks drunk. Lol Every time I look at it I end up laughing.

These sets of photos represent freindship. Through the good times and the bad times. Through all the crazy times. I guess I'll own my sis, she's probley not to happy with me right now. But it's worth it. :)

Patterns

Patterns. Such a simple concept, yet they're semi challenging to catch and capture well because we see them all the time, and never really think about them. Every day life is filled with theses simple little patterns. Next assignment: patterns. And this is what I got.

Hehe, thanks to my cats, this was possible. And my homework?

Derivative

Ok, so next assignment; Derivative, which is a fancy art term for taking an image or work of art and copying it. Try to make it as close to the original, yet give it some pazaze of your own.

So here's the original; I'm not sure who's it by, just and interesting picture I found online and decided to copy and try out. Who ever did this has mad photoshop skills.

                                                                        And here's my version:

Ok so It didn't turn out as well as I planned, but with something like this, it's hard to copy. I can tell you  the things that are not the same, but I'm sure you're able to find that out one your own/

So What did I learn:

It's hard to get angles just right.
Photoshopping faces on to food is hard and a pesk.
I think the knife was photoshopped in the original.

But I had fun working on it, and I hope that you had fun looking at it.

Bubbles

Portraits, a popular photography subjects; but something that in photography we never really discussed, until now! Our shooting assignment was in class this time. Our whole class went out to the elementary playground, and we were allowed to play on the playground and blow bubbles, in exchange that we took pictures of others in between are moments of joy. It brought back so many memories. I think I went crazy, and thus I have more memories than actually pictures; but the few I took I think turned out pretty well. Here's the best of them:

Blowing bubbles can be pretty hard to do,it takes great concentration, and
an awesome black and white background.

I really like this photo because it looks like
bubble advertisement she looks really happy.

I had to edit one at least, sure other ones as well, but Black and White and rainbow? Come on' how cool is that? Awesome portrait too.

I love this photo, it looks blurry and bad at first, but I think it gives it a more dramatic effect.

Who blew the bubble?

This last picture I think has more sentimental meaning, It's a picture of our photography class, well most the students at least. I like it cause it's chaotic and expresses what we were doing that day pretty well. I changed it to sepia to give a more dramatic effect yet not loose the viivid color all the way.

My final picture, yeah its more then 4 or 5 like instructions, but I couldn't decide.

I see you too. You can't hide from me. :)

Cubisised!

Cubisised? What is that?  It's a word I made up for one thing. Well, for my next performing picture that I am doing is a picture of me edited on photoshop using a grid to create little boxes around my face, then using those cool little photoshop filters that I hardly ever get to use, I went crazy filtering them. At first I thought that I could make each box different by using a different filter; but then I realized that was taking way too much time and second, I don't think I have enough filter for like all 300 grids. So I also then realized that I can make each picture different just by changing the hue or color of the picture, some of the fun filters that I used would completely change the surrounding grid boxes next to them. Of course I was also able to use multiple filter to create an even wilder look. Some boxes I changed the color without touching any filters, and some I also just left-mostly just parts of my face and hair. I don't see much of pattern, but I think it fits me well, I guess there is some organization/structure using same filters, but hey they're also some random ones. I think this fits me pretty well. Oh, and right before I finished, I had to remove the grid lines, so it gives it in a more 'creative and mysterious look' mabyey, but I think everyone knows how I did it, ruining the point of 'mystery' Enjoy.

Don't you just love the color filter I used for my shirt?
How awesome would it be to own of those in real life?
I think photoshop did an amazing job with he filter program.
                                                           :)

Request photo

So along time ago, I got a request. This was back when I did my spring journalist photo assigmnet, and my teacher really liked one of my photos, the first one I had of the reflection of the water. He told me that he thought that it would be cool to see the black and white version of it. Or something to those lines. Eventually, now, I got to it.
Here's the original so you don't have to hunt for it.

And here it is in black and white.

Typical Day

You guessed it. I have to shoot pictures of typical day and make a it look artistic in some arrangement. There is a lot of wonder about what I do in my life. What is my 'Typical Day' like? So if you're curious, you can see my little putsy collage of photos I've taken to try to show what my day is like. It's not as good as I would like it because frankly through out the day I forgot to take pictures of the things I was doing because they seem so typical and normal of happening, I didn't think much of it. So I got a few, and then I took a few more because there are some awkward spots were not much was recorded for my doings. :)

So here's my day, or what the pictures show. First picture is my bedroom, getting up and starting the day and going off to school is probley they hardest task of the day, at least it ranks up pretty high. Speaking of going to school, that's the second picture. My mom drives to school in the morning and I ride the bus home. Don't I look thrilled sitting in my mom's car on the way to school? Mind you, it's only 7:30 am - to early to be up and alive. Since the day I took these pictures was Thursday, that means student counsel meeting in the third picture, I'm not in this photo but I like it cause all the head counsel members are with are leader - looking like they're deep in thought. Finally first hour comes and I take a picture of my computer for photography (this class) I think it's kinda ironic. Because of school rules, I felt awkward taking picture of me in my other classes, so I just skipped to lunch, Mini Corn dogs, a bun, and milk. I have the last lunch of the day, so slim pickings. My friends and I have a 40 minute lunch break or so before our next class so I took a picture of me hanging with one of my close friends. At the end of the day I pack my things and leave for the bus to go back home. Hence the 7th picture of my binder. Usually when I get home, I go out side and listen to my ipod for a while, I love swinging on the swings. It's really bright today. I never took a picture of me eating dinner, so I just took one of the fridge, something good comes out of there. The 10th picture is suppose to represent me doing my homework, yuck. After a long day I rewind and play with my kittnes (who don't like pictures) and I paint for a bit while watching TV. I sleep of couasrs, then I wake up and do it all again.
I do more things then this (like shower and wast time on the computer), but I think it summarizes it pretty well.

Walk In The Park

Alright, so we took a class field trip to the park! YAY! And wee took some pictures obviously, to update to our blog.  These are like the top seven pictures I took. It seems like majority of them are in black and white, I guess that's just the way that my camera likes to work.

It was very humid that day, so not only was my hair like crazy, but my camera's lens did not seem to want to focus.  O well, I think for the amount of stubbornness my camera was going through, I have some awesome pictures.

This is probley my favorite picture of the lot. I had to change it to black and white to increase composition.  I think this one has good composition, symmetry, good texture, lighting. To me this seems like one of those famous black and white nature pictures you would find in those nature magazines.

I'm not sure why this one is listed in my top 7 phtotos, but I think it's pretty sentimental.
It gives sort of a nararive to the park itself, not just the plants and objects around. I think 'Yellow Poplar'  is a type of tree, I'm not sure though.

I have a lot of pictures of the little puddle in the ground, reflecting up at the trees that are actually 180 degrees away and up how many feet in the air. I love reflected photos, I took a lot of them,  and that's what burned up my memory card. Mabey sometime I'll do something more with my reflective photos.

Heres' a picture of some wire from a wire fence cutting into some plants. This picture is rather chaoctic.
There are so many different shapes and textures, I think that the only way I could have pulled it off, is by converting it to black and white.

Yet another black and white photo. This time of the year, everything is green, and so trying to find great color is hard to do. Sometimes things just turn out better in black and white. I think these flowers are really interesting,  I have no idea what they are called, but  I'll call them 'friendship flowers'. Why? Because the little flowery things are connected in a circle like a group of friends holding hands. This photo has many shapes as well. Like the semi-circle connecting the flowers off to the side.

Here's another reflective photo. Some moldy branch in the middle of a little muddy pond. In the reflection you can see a tree, it's kind of giving off a false impression. This little stick/branch with mold that looks sickly, is looking as itself as a full grown proud tree in the reflection. If you can think of it that way.

I've been debating whether or not to show this one. It's a fly on a leaf. Not the most exciting example of  up closeness, but my camera did not want to shoot really good details. Pardon my camera, it's old with stubbornness. But hey, I think for the first time shot, it came out pretty good. Flys are finicky and usually  do not smile and stand still for their close-up. But I got it.

Light and shadows?

I say this with a question mark, because when my assignment was handed to me, I never really understood what I was suppose to take pictures of. :/ I guess good examples of light and shadows. But what really is that? I know it when I see it, because some photos the only 'important' part is the shadows it creates, but how to capture that in a camera is confusing. I think mostly I just took pictures of painting/windows/and mirrors with interesting light in the background.

Here's a picture of a painting that is in my living room. It's a picture of a deer out in the middle of the woods with snow, pine trees and a small creek. I like this photo because in the middle of the photo there's a door (reflection) like it's saying enter into this world.

Here's another painting and reflection of light. See I can improvise. I paintied this painting FYI, but you can't really see it that well. Instead you can see the old lamp sitting in my living room and the end table. I had to increase light and contrast to make it show up better, else it looked like a giant undefined blob.

What do ya' know? It's another painting reflection! :O How unusually. Boy I'm on a role going around taking pictures of painting in my house and looking for interesting lighting backgrounds. I also painted this one too. I think this one is my favorite (reflection/picture wise -not over all painting) It's kinda random, a nice abstract red and purple background meshed toeghter with my kitchen dinner area.

Hmmm, one without a painting, how unusual. I figured that I should show at least  one photo without a painting in it. here's just the living room without much lights on, and just the sol living room lamp is standing there. I tried editing it by increasing the contrast and light exposure to see what it shows, and it looks really creepy. The little black spot on the right looks like a man in a black trench coat, how unusual!

Not much to say about this one, but it's amazing on how dirty and gross mirrors look when you put flash on them. Think I should clean it?
